“The Value of Time”

To realize the value of a sister ask someone who doesn’t have one

To realize the value of ten years: ask a newly divorced couple.

To realize the value of four years: Ask a graduate.

To realize the value of one year: Ask a student who has failed the final exam.

To realize the value of nine months: Ask a mother who has given birth to a stillborn.

To realize the value of one month: Ask a mother who has a premature baby.

To realize the value of one minute: Ask a person who has missed the train, bus, or plane.

To realize the value of one-second: Ask a person who has survived an accident.

Time waits for no one.

Treasure every moment you have.

You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special.

To realize the value of a friend or family member: LOSE ONE.

Share this message with friends and family.

“The time has almost come for intership”

We are almost done with the program. The CNA are going on their clinicals on July 12, 2010, to great sites. I just want to wish everyone good luck and hope that everyone meet the standards to make it through the program. We all had to face challenges throughout the program as far as our differences in personality, change, and with personal issues outside of Caroline Center. We all made it this far and I know we can acheive our goals of becoming certified CNAs and PTs’. I just want to wish the PTs’ good luck cause they take their final examination today July 8, 2010. Alot of ladies were stressed out about how they did, but I know they did fine if they took their time and answered each question accordingly. I would just like to thank all of the staff that took their time out for all the ladies at the center, and for helping us get our resumes and coverletters prepared for our future careers. To anyone thinking about attending Caroline Center, please this is an oppurtunity of a life time.

“Things You Need to Know About Buying a House” 6/28/2010

On Monday 6/28/2010, a speaker by the name of Anthony Parran from St. Ambrose Housing came in to talk to all the ladies about trying to buy a house. He has been a mortgage conselor for 20 years. Anthony is the director of the 1st buyer program to help people try to buy houses. Anthony gives a free service every other Saturday once a month. The education is about buying a house and ways to clean your credit up so that you are able to buy a home. If you want to get more for your buck you can get grant money through special program online. There is a right and wrong way of buying a home, you don’t ever buy a house with your boyfriend because a house is a finacial marriage in itself. If you were to buy a house with a boyfriend and not a husband two to one you will be stuck with the bill in the end. He also told us to try to buy a house with the least amount of money in your pocket, find your resources and use them. This information is very imformative try to use it.

“BEING A PROFESSIONAL WOMAN” 6/21/2010

Today Monday June 21, 2010 a lady by the name of Adrienne Alberts came from Constellation Energy to speak to us about being the more professional woman. Ms. Alberts stated to us that we have 10 seconds to make a split decision about someone it might not be the right one but the first thing that comes to your mind. She grew up in Virginia. Ms. Alberts started working in higher education and was doing that for 10 yrs. Then she worked at Monster.com helping college kids work to find jobs. Here are a few things that needs to done while going on an interview:

  • Show up early/ be on time
  • Dress/ Good hygiene
  • Hair needs to be groomed well
  • Less is more not a lot of jewerly, perfume
  • Attitude- positive/ smile
  • Assertive and confident
  • Avoid conflict
  • Body Language
  • Being congruent- having your body language match what you say

I really liked the speaker today, because I look at her as a mirror, meaning that’s where I see myself being once I finish this program. Ms. Alberts is a very successful African American woman and I congratulate her on her success and if she can do it I know I can do it.

“POSITIVE POWER”

On June 14, 2010 Ms. Yvonne Moten talked about Posistive Powerwhich was about how to handle conflict. Ms Yvonne talked about Non Assertive behavior which consists of , other deciding for you, don’t express fellings, ideas, wants and puts self down. She also spoke on having aggressive behavior which includes: is inappropriately honest, puts others down, ignores rights of others, dominates, chooses for others, attacks and blames, overracts to situtations, uses loaded and superior words, is sarcastic and loud, makes rigid demands and points the finger. Assertive Behavior includes: is appropriately honest, express wants and feelings directly, is empathetic, chooses for herself, is spontaneous, exercises her personal rights and respects rights of others, makes direct eye, has firm and warm voice, uses I statement takes responsibility for self.

Feelings of others when person engages in this behavior

  • NON ASSERTIVE : Guilty, disrespectful, irritated, frustrated, superior
  • AGGRESSIVE: Hurt, humiliated, defensive, vengeful, angry
  • ASSERTIVE: Respectful and respected.

Just keep in mid the things you can control don’t let the aggressive side come out. Don’t play into the odds of aggressive people that expect you to fail.

“Because” by TD Jakes

Here’s another inspiring poem read it at your leisure.

Just because no one has been fortunate enough to realize what a gold mine you are, Doesn’t mean you shine any less.

Just because no one has been smart enough to figure out that you can’t be topped, Doesn’t stop you from being the best.

Just because no one has come along to share your life, Doesn’t men that day isn’t coming.

Just because no one has made this race worthwhile,  Doesn’t give you permission to stop running.

Just because no one realized how much of an awesome woman you are, Doesn’t mean they affect your femininity.

Just because no one has shown up who can love you on your level, Doesn’t mean you have to sink to theirs.

Just because you deserve the very best there is, Doesn’t mean that life is always fair.

Just because GOD is still preparing your King, Doesn’t mean that lifyou’re not already a Queen.

Just because your situation doesn’t seem to be progressing right now, Doesn’t mean you need to change a thing.

Keep shining, keep running, Keep hoping, and keep praying, Keep being exactly what you are already. COMPLETE!!

To My sisters in the Lord 6/7/2010

I just wanted to share this poem that i got from my instructor Ms. Yvonne.

There comes a time in every woman’s life when she has to take a close look at herself. Not at her circumstances, not at what she did, not how unfair life is, or at who made you do it. She has to just look at herself in all her gloryand imperfection. Have you ever admired a woman who has been through changes in her life?Or have you made up in your mind that she is just messed up. Before you make this mistake take a closer look. A woman who has endured the most unusual life is someone of wisdom, someone who has been choosen by GOD to go through things that have made her stronger.

Think of all the great woman in the BIBLE : Mary Magdalene, Ruth and Naomi, the woman with an issue of blood, and Esther, to name a few. Mary was a prostitute, a very uneasy woman. But by the time Jesus was done with her, she was his closest follower. Esther was unfortunate in marrying an abusive man, but by the time GOD was done with her, she had married one of the wealthiest men in the land.
